SWA #7

1) A library Subscription Database  allow you with a single command, to search through several years' worth of articles from a large number of different print periodicals for information. You will most likely find books here. The World Wide Web, unlike library databases that you access with a password, is free and available to everyone. not all of the materials on the web are quality sources, however. Here you will find all sorts of information like online journals.
2)The bibliography is the alphabetically arranged list of evaluated sources you have decided are credible, related to your issue, and potentially valuable to your research. An annotated bibliography is a bibliography with annotations or paragraphs about the information your going to use from each citation. An annotated bibliography can be very useful when writing a research paper because you don't have to search through all the content to find exactly what your looking for each time.
3)A credible source usually has ".gov or a .org or a .edu" ending at the web address. It also has an author. If a site has references it usually makes the cite more credible. A cite is also more credible when it is from a large known source such as CNN or Times.
4)One would make a research plan to guide them in their research so it can be done more efficiently. It also helps one not to waste time going through useless information.
5)Plagiarism is knowingly using some one else's work as taking credit for it. Plagiarism can also be using your own work for another assignment without permission. One could avoid plagiarism by differentiating between your ideas and those of others at all stages of the paper-writing.

I heart Lunchabels

I made my post secret add about the love i have towards lunchables. I chose lunchables becuase they are always there for me when I need them the most. Some people might consider lunchables as something that might be found on a childrens menu, well let it be said that I am 19 going on 20 and to this day I still find my self every now and then craving three small cold uncooked pizzas. I chose to write in crayon and images instead of words because i thought it was more childish. I personally think that getting in touch with your "inner kid" is a great way to deal with stress. I think my love for lunchables is only a symbol of my "inner kid". Plus... I really like lunchables.

I think this is bad ad. I believe it is intended for teenagers. It does show that the decisions people make affect others around them. But I think an ad that shows something more harsh would be more affective towards the audience. I believe that the claim in clearly stated and the picture backs up the claim fairly well.
I think it the person in a girl talking because the text says "Im SO BEAUTIFUL everyone is too intimidated to approach me." To me that seems like something a girl would say rather than a guy.  The explicit verbal claim is that she is trying to figure out a reason why she doesn't have any friends. The implicit claim is that she is so self centered and is only thinking about herself that she doesn't even know how to make friends, so she finds reasons why instead. The visual component is the blurred background. It shows she doesn't pay attention to what is around her backing up the idea that she is too self centered.

Visual argument vs Written argument.

Written arguments are generally more planned out and are organized better than a visual argument. Written arguments tend to have a more established thesis statment then a visual argument. Visual arguments tend to have a more specfic intended audience where as a written argument has to be chosen by the reader where they decide to become the intended audience.

"Real Archaeologists Don't Wear Fedoras"

In Neil Asher Silberman's "Real Archaeologists Don't Wear Fedoras" he makes the argument that Indiana Jones does not portray a real archaeologist. He instead portrays a a guy that Silberman says, "is hacking his way through thick jungles, careering wildly in car chases and scrambling through dark tunnels to snatch a precious artifact from the clutches of an evil empire." I agree with him that Indiana Jones is not your typical archaeologist. But what Silberman must remember is that Indiana Jones is a fictional character and was made to entertain. If it wasn't for Indiana Jones I doubt many people would even know what an Archaeologists does. I bet people have become archaelogists just because they were inspired by Indiana Jones. If anything I think archaeologists should be happy that Indiana Jones exist because with out him I believe that an everyday archaeologist wouldn't receive as much respect for the work they do.
